Are your metal bunk beds safe from accidents?

June 14th, 2010

Many parents consider utilising bunk beds for their little ones to over come a deficiency of room or via the demands of the infant. The one up one down style of bunk bed even though somewhat an exciting venture for young infants may be very hazardous; an average 85% of bed accidents are caused from metal bunk beds. There are countless hazards parents must be conscious of when investing in a bunk bed.

Although a fall alone can considerably injur a kid, furnishings surrounding the bunk bed may well cause a further hazard. Objects such as blind cords are extremely hazardous; they can easily become tied around a kid’s neck and many fatalaties have arisen because of the child’s dressing gown cord wrapping around the neck during the fall. Such incidents are very extraordinary although they do ask the question of how out of harm’s way our children are in bunk beds. However, kids bunk beds are a great way of construing a certain accountability onto your infant and as mentioned recently they are an excellent room saving device, so they mustn’t be ignored entirely.

Metal bunk beds are less dangerous now more than ever. Better materials, better construction, and better design have all contributed into a considerably less hazardous bunk bed than even a decade ago. Most bed bunk accidents are a result of child’s play, in fact, most injuries are as a result of kids playing around on the beds, in particular college dorm lofts and metal bunk beds. As long as protected behaviour are managed, your child should be alright. Show them to under no circumstances jump on the top bunk and how to use the ladder correctly.
